Understanding Plasma Therapy for COVID-19

Here we are going to understand PLASMA therapy for Covid-19. no one knows exactly cure of CORONA, It may be Plasma Therapy, Remdesivir or anything else, but here still our doctors and scientist are continue on work to do research for CORONA virus.

-:Plasma Therapy:-

Plasma Therapy or Convalescent Plasma Therapy (CPT) can be a possible treatment for COVID-19. Scientists and researchers are exploring multiple ways and doing clinical trials to find out the solution to cure this dangerous disease. 

According to the report of Food and Drug department, the Convalescent Plasma has been studied in several eruption of other respiratory system related infections ie: SARS-CoV-1 epidemic, the H1N1 influenza virus pandemic, and the MERS-CoV epidemic. 

Scientist are considering  COVID-19 as similar to SARS-CoV,  there will be chances for  convalescent plasma therapy it  can prove to be effective and safe. 

For COVID-19, no exact cure has been discovered yet, still trial's are continuously going on, will see how much time it will take to discover the exact antidote of COVID-19.

What is Convalescent Plasma Therapy (CPT)?

In Plasma Therapy, a part of our immunity with the help of blood plasma can be transferred from one person to another Covid infected person. Here convalescent plasma is the liquid form of our blood from the recovered patients of COVID-19.

In Plasma Therapy, doctors are using  the blood of the recovered person as it is rich in antibodies is used to treat other Covid infected person. The idea behind the therapy is that antibodies produced by the patients who have had recovered or survived the virus will boost the immune system of those who are in to very serious condition due to Corona or fighting with the COVID- 19. 

In this treatment When pathogens attack our body, our immune system starts working and releases proteins to fight against the virus. These proteins are known as antibodies. If the infected person produces a sufficient amount of protein then he or she will be recovered by antibodies itself.

What is Plasma?

The liquid part of the blood is plasma. It is made up of large amount of water and proteins. It provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate through the body. It also consists of crucial components of immunity known as antibodies.

What are antibodies?

Antibodies are produced in the body is a type of proteins that defend from the virus caused due to pathogen an antigen. After this, some blood cells start working / functioning as memory cells.

Antibodies once bound to the virus, neutralise it. The antibodies activate the pathways and help prevent further damage to cells. Reduces the overall viral load. 

Plasma transfused from at least two donors provides diverse antibodies, thus delivering greater protection to the immune system

How does Convalescent Therapy work?

In this therapy, the blood has taken from the recovered patient from COVID-19, Then the serum is separated and screened for virus-neutralising antibodies. The antibodies rich serum is then injected to an infected person from COVID-19.

This process takes some where around one hour for donating plasma  just like we are donating blood. The donors of the Plasma are attached to a small device that removes plasma while simultaneously returning red blood cells to their bodies. In regular blood donation, donors have to wait for red blood cells to replenish between donations but here in this case of plasma therapy, it can be donated very frequent, that is twice a week.

This therapy is not that much easy or simple to get a required or significant amount of plasma. As we all know about CORONA its a new disease and most of people already suffering from High BP, diabetes, Heart attack, Hypertension and etc, so effectiveness remains questionable. 

Plasma is  rich with antibodies which is taken from the recovered patients of COVID-19 and then is infused into the bloodstream of other infected corona virus patients. When the body getting contact with external pathogens like virus, bacteria or germs, it automatically start a defensive mechanism and started releasing antibodies.

Uncountable Trials and research's related to Convalescent Plasma Therapy

India :-

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has permitted to Kerala to conduct convalescent plasma therapy. Kerala is the first state in our country which has successfully tested the Plasma therapy. 

USA :- 

US Food and Drug Administration Dept.(FDA) has shared their experience, Same treatment done with respiratory viruses and the data has showed that the therapy has the cepacity to affect the severity and shorten the length of illness caused by COVID-19.

China:- 

In the study of  Plasma therapy in china, In the treatment of Covid patient it found very much effective on small samples.Study says that a trial was conducted in which 200 ml dose of convalescent plasma was administered to 10 adult COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms and the drastic change showed in seven patients.

Houston  :- 

The same trial happened and three critical infected patient with COVID-19 are also showing good signs of recovery from the convalescent plasma therapy.

All over the world all countries including China, South Korea, US and UK have also tried this therapy for Covid-19 treatment. Trials and researches are still going on for COVID-19 treatment. Therefore, it is very much necessary and compulsory to take care & precautions as per the advisory of the government. follow rules, put on mask whenever going out side maintain social distance, Stay home and be safe!

Normally people don't want to invest money in MUTUAL FUND because they are feeling FD's are giving more profit and security, comparatively Mutual Funds but somehow its not true....Mutual funds companies are investing your money in different different verticals and anyways giving you more profit in compare to bank fixed deposits here we understand👇

Mutual fund is the automatic scheme where your limited/fixed amount on deducted on monthly basis, market is having fluctuations so who all are not able to take little risk please stay away from mutual fund and shares.

If you are able to take risk and want to earn more than go for diversified funds,,,, ups n downs comes but you will get good returns just you have to keep pasion🧐.
